Intermède sur rien piece for symphonic orchestra, slameurs and children’s choir (2011) tribute to John Cage It is a work created in school with and for pupils and commissioned by the Avignon Symphonic Orchestra. The project was to gather slam, pupils of middle school and a symphonic orchestra . This project of creation took place in situ in the Diderot school in Sorgues throughout the year 2011/2012. There were slam workshops run by Dizzylez and music workshops directed by myself. The starting point of the writing of this work was based on the students’ ideas (texts, rhythm, melodic ideas, sound texture …). The pupils offered me many ideas that they had developed during slam and music workshops. I selected their ideas, then I expanded them to compose this work for symphonic orchestra, children choir and slamers.
The challenge was also that the students participate as a musician in the performances … A wonderful human and musical adventure.
