Biography

 

Formed at the music’s conservatory in Valenciennes, at the Goldsmith’s College University in London (David Owen) and at the conservatory in Marseille (Georges Bœuf, Régis Campo), Lionel Ginoux develop his music whithin a 20th century framework with a leaning towards popular music and jazz. He regulary works with Joël Versavaud, Sébastien Boin, Pascal Denoyer, Marion Liotard, Pierre-Anaël Hébert, the guitar’s duet Lallement Marquès …

In 2004, he has constituted the instrumental’s ensemble C.Barré with whom he has created the 30rd august 2009 at the Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon his work Préface en Prose for choir, chamber’s orchestra and narrator, after an artistic residency in this place. This work has been scheduled again the 2nd october 2009 at the Théâtre de la Minoterie in Marseille and well criticize by the press (La Provence, Zibeline). Préface en Prose has been rewarded by the Prix Défi Jeunes 2008.

For the Festival Convergences in december 2010, the GMEM, national center of musical creation (Marseille), scheduled his work for percussion and saxophone, Un peu plus loin de plus près…, and the monthly magazine Zibeline wroted about the piece : « Très chaleureusement accueillie, la création de Lionel Ginoux a réussi le pari d’évoquer des sonorités reculées par un riche palette percussive mettant l’accent sur les peaux, les associant à une écriture moderne où le saxophone soprano pouvait tisser ses mélopées, parfois litaniques, parfois incisives . Une réussite pour une pièce dense à la formation audacieuse pleine de ressources… »

In january 2011, his piece Grimace for baryton saxophon is played by Jeffrey Loeffert at the International Saxophone Symposium – George Mason University (Fairfax – United-State).

The Ensemble Télémaque commission him, in november 2010, a new work for cellos’ quartet, for the European Contemporary Orchestra’s concert, who regroupe the ensemble : Musiques Nouvelles (dir. Jean-Paul Dessy), De Erpris (dir. Wim Boerman) and Télémaque (dir. Raoul Lay). The 15th april 2011 this work has been created at the ABD Gaston Defferre (Marseille) and will be played at the beginning of september 2011 at Utrecht (Holland) and in Belgium.

In August 2010, he is a composer selected at the composition’s contest of Nice’s city  and he write a piece for organ, Sombres, Clairs, Rouges.

He is passionate by the voice and vocal’s composition.  The compagny Turbulences Lyriques (Marion Liotard and Cynthia Ranguis) commission him a melodies’ cycle. He compose Un brasier d’étoiles, on Alain Borne’s poems. His work will be first performed the 10 juillet 2011, at the Espace d’Art du Paradou.

Actually, he endend his concerto for violin and orchestra and draw up a chamber opera’s project.

He will be in composition residency at the Riom conservatory of music for the year 2011/2012.
